It seems you can’t keep the Blackpool entrepreneur down as the seaside town this week through open it’s doors to the newly renovated Casino G.
The Super Casino bid may have failed, for the time being at least, but the £3.5million refit of the popular Grosvenor venue has set tongues in the South of England wagging.
Comedian Lee Evans and model Lisa Snowden were among the celebrity guests who attended the recent re-opening.
Casino G situated on the Promenade is now the new home to the UK’s largest poker room, with seating for 250 people. The Grosvenor’s management have said that they aimed to transform the Sandcastle Casino from the place for a gambling pit-stop into something with a wider appeal.
General Manager Dawn Higgins said: 'G is the new brand of casino, with a more modern concept. In this day and age casinos are no longer just a place to gamble, we offer an excellent restaurant, nice bars, regular live entertainment, as well as features like gaming rooms and card rooms.'
Improvements include a new restaurant, a mezzanine floor, a bigger stage for live shows and events, and a higher ceiling above the bar.
Higgins added " People that haven't been in for a while will be shocked at the changes, although we did have a few regulars in while the work was in progress, playing around the dust."
As the Super casino decision has been so widely contested it is still possible that the Manchester decision may be changed, making Blackpool a clear favourite.
'We can't worry about that,” said Dawn. “I'm sure they (the gambling public) would try out more than one venue if they were here.'
