Last week Onlinecasinopress.co.uk told you about Ryanair’s plans to introduce in flight online casino facilities for passengers. Now it seems they aren’t the only airline getting in on the act.
Its been confirmed that the gambling firm 888.com will also be offering its online casinos during flights for passengers on British Airways, Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific Airlines, beginning early next year.
The gambling firm is hoping to capitalise on stringent laws in the United States in relation to online gambling and rumours suggest the airlines in question see the transatlantic route as the most lucrative.
Passengers using their individual television screens will be able to play online casino games and place bets using their credit cards.
The airlines in question are now equipped with some the most advanced aviation technology available giving each passenger their own Internet connection.
Representatives from the charity organisation, GamCare, believe that this new venture will open up the industry to players who would not even notice that online casinos existed, and 888.com is hoping that is the case.
Chief Executive Officer at 888.com, Gigi Levy, said, “At 888 we’re all about customer service and satisfaction.”
“We believe that people respond positively when treated fairly and respectfully, especially when you offer them the very finest and most entertainment gaming products available online,” he concluded.
Concerns have already been expressed however in relation to the safety of online gaming in such a location.
Will air stewards and stewardesses really have the power or inclination to check that all players are of legal age and what happens when an unlucky punter loses his or her shirt in the sky? Is there an increased possibility of air rage and if so how would that be dealt with?
All these questions will have to be answered by the participating airlines before they fully roll out the concept to the unsuspecting flying public.
