Not for the first time this month Las Vegas Casinos have been in the news for all the wrong reasons.
In the early hours of Sunday morning two people were shot at Caesars Palace Hotel and Casino after eight players amazingly got into a fight over a woman.
An argument began between two groups of four people at the casino after a man made a derogatory remark about one of the others' girlfriends at around 4am, according to reports.
When one of the men got knocked down in the scuffle, he left the scene, went to the car park and returned with a hand gun.
Richard Earl Shepherd allegedly opened fire as he stepped out of a lift, hitting one man in the knee and another twice in the arm, although both have since been released from hospital.
Shepherd has so far evaded capture and police warn that the 34-year-old has an extensive criminal history.
Officer Ramon Denby of the Las Vegas Police said: "Investigators are now in the process of reviewing surveillance tape and talking to witnesses," adding that five people had been detained for questioning.
Las Vegas has become a popular holiday destination in recent years for British tourists.
While many who travel to the Nevada desert city do so specifically to try their luck in the casinos others travel there just to see the bright lights and experience the unique atmosphere it offers.
As well as the transient group of holiday makers there is also a large population of British ex-pats making their living in ‘Sin City’.
Therefore news that another shooting has taken place at a casino in the city will come as shocking news to Britons living in Las Vegas.
Though casinos spend millions of dollars each year in security these incidents are still happening and operators may need to review their policies on giving out free alcoholic drinks if there’s another incident of this nature in the near future.
