The saying ‘never miss a genuine opportunity’ has taken on new life after the South Asian owned Maharajah club revealed that they will invite Big Brother star Shilpa Shetty to present the Asian Poker Classic in March.
The hugely successful Bollywood actress has been in the spotlight in both Britain and India after she was allegedly the victim of some racist remarks from other members of Channel’s four’s Big Brother reality television programme.
MaharajahClub.com believes 31 year old Shilpa would be the perfect personality to host the event which will take place in Goa, India from March 1st until the 5th.
The Poker classic will be the biggest of its kind ever to be staged in India and it has a $1 million prize pool. Players from across the globe including Britain are expected to make the trip to the beautiful Indian state for the prestigious event.
Explaining why the Asian Poker Classic opted for Shilpa Director of Events Minaxshi Shah explained “We don’t yet know how much longer she’ll be in the Big Brother house but she’s already become the star of the series. We’ll be contacting her as soon as she comes out to ask if she’ll be involved in the Asian Poker Classic.”
Over 50,000 complaints were received by television watchdog Ofcom and a further 3,000 complaints received by Channel four last week in relation to Shetty's participation in Celebrity Big Brother. The complaints related to the alleged racism and bullying targeted towards her by several of the housemates.
Chief Executive of Maharajah Gaming Sachin Pawa said “ Shilpa has the perfect poker face along with strength under pressure, grace and class.”
