Online slots players survey
By Clive Twyman
Published on 18 September 2007

The Online Slots Player Survey which has been running since July is now heading into its final week closing on Sunday 23rd September.

Some of the early results from the Survey confirm the stereotypes about online slots players whereas others go against the stereotypes.

The survey has been organised by slotland.com and asks players questions about their betting habits, strategies for winning, memorable wins and also questions about playing games on mobile phones.

By completing the Survey players can enter into a prize draw where one lucky player can win a $500 credit to their slotland.com account.

A trend which the survey has picked up is that the majority of slots players aren’t playing for small amounts.  Despite the majority of slots players saying that the highest they bet is between $50 to $100, most players also said they like to sometimes or nearly always place a maximum bet.  In terms of winnings the majority indicated that their biggest win was £1000.

Most people answering the Survey agreed the best way to win at slots was to stick with a game that feels lucky despite the temptation to switch games.

John Lancelet of slotland.com said, “We actually get a lot of correspondence from our players, so we have a good impression of who they are.  This survey confirms a lot of what we already understood but we’ve learned some interesting things about our players.  For example, they seem to rely more than I thought on how they feel about a particular machine rather than specific playing strategies.”

Another early indication of online slots trends shows that video poker and solitaire are popular among slots players.  Somewhat surprisingly poker isn’t popular, whereas some said they played poker, the majority said they didn’t play that often or not at all.

The stereotype about the age of the slots player has been challenged by the Survey.  Online slots are enjoyed by a cross-section of the age demographic - and not just seniors - people in their 20s to 60s and older have completed the online Survey.  The majority of players answering the Survey have been in their 30s.

There is still time for you online slots players to get your hands on winning $500 by answering the Survey.  The Survey is online until Sunday 23rd September and can be answered by visiting www.gamblingDaily.com/slots-survey.
