All roads will lead to Nottingham for card players in Britain after the gaming operator Dusk Till Dawn was granted permission to open a poker-only venue in the city.
The venue is different to normal casinos as it will not offer traditional casino house games such as roulette and blackjack focusing totally on poker.
The company say over 3000 people have already applied for membership of Dusk till Dawn and that the game of poker is undergoing something of a profile revolution.
The proposed venue will be the UK's first ever card room and the largest of its kind in Europe.
Commenting on the latest news the managing director of Dusk till Dawn Rob Young said: "I would like to sincerely thank the UK Gambling Commission for their fairness and the wonderful support of the poker community these past 18 months which has played a big part in this victory."
Dawn Till Dusk will now have to prove to the Nottinghamshire Magistrates Court that there is sufficient demand for such a venue in the region.
Dawn Till Dusk also took the opportunity to confirm that the planned venue will have a capacity of 700 players and contain a TV studio to broadcast games, a feature it hopes will attract the European Poker Tour and World Poker Tour events to Nottingham.
