Liverpool may be the European City of Culture in 2008 but it’s near neighbour Manchester that is turning heads by introducing some Parisian flair to one of the city’s biggest casinos.
Manchester 235 casino is bringing a slice of chic to the city centre over the next few months.
Renowned dancer and choreographer Elizabeth Peacock will bring her exclusive new cabaret show ‘Revue 235Live’ to the casino's intimate live venue.
Elizabeth is a famed dancer in her own right having performed all over Europe as part of many high profile shows including touring with the legendary Julio Iglesias. Recently she has been performing at the Lido on the Champs-Elysees in Paris where she first had the idea for this fabulous new show.
Taking place every Friday night in 235Live, Revue 235Live is being described by promoters as a female-friendly night out with broad appeal aimed at existing music fans and those looking for a very different experience to the usual weekend out.
It's a first in UK casino history and the ground breaking move may be mirrored by other casinos up and down the country.
But make no mistake this is being viewed by Casino bosses as much more than purely a night out for punters. It is also a clever device to attract female members of the public to the casino. While the gender profile of casino players online shows women making up a big percentage of the total the same cannot be said for land based casinos.
By attracting them in for the music extravaganza they hope the newcomers to the venue will soon become regulars.
The posters say ‘Revue 235Live’ is “a magical space where Paris style rubs silky shoulders with Weimar Republic cabaret and where solo musical numbers compete with high stepping Can Can routines courtesy of Elizabeth's seasoned troupe of dancers.”
Dinner and a show is £30 and tickets can be purchased by calling Manchester 235 on 0161 828 0300. And due to advance ticket demand Elizabeth will now also be performing her show at midnight every Saturday -without dinner, you not her that is - for an entrance fee of just £10.
