Internet gambling – safe as houses
By Graham Clifford
Published on 16 May 2008
In the current climate of internet fraud and corresponding suspicion by users a leading internet gaming industry expert has spoken out about the security of online gambling.

Brian Wright of the Remote Gambling Association said that people do not need to be worried about the safety of their details when placing wagers online and implied that it is just as safe as other mediums such as going into a betting shop or using a phone.

"There are no security problems that people choosing to gamble online need to be concerned about," he commented.

Mr. Wright added that people are now more aware of how secure gambling websites can be and that few of the worries they initially had when internet gaming first started to take off remain.

He also said that the internet, which is the most popular of all remote gambling portals, "is a growing market" and mentioned how punters are attracted by the ease and "comfort" of betting at home.

British online gaming sites such as Getminted.com now go to great lengths to ensure top security for both themselves and the people who play the games.

The days of dodgy sites is now in the main a thing of the past but players should still read the terms and conditions of the sites on which they play just in case.

Other concerns relate to the disclosure of account and card details when playing online.

However while British websites had a reputation for being ‘safe’ before regulation of the industry the Government move has only added to the high levels of security.

Should you have a complaint with an online website then you can approach the gambling commission who deal with such complaints.

They say “A Gambling software operating licence is required for an operator or supplier that manufactures, supplies, installs or adapts gambling software.”

To qualify for a licence sites need to fully comply with security measures.
