It seems £1 can go a very long way if your luck is in! A local Manchester woman won over £200,000 recently after her little flutter.

The win at the Grosvenor Casino came on the Super Stud Poker game.

The woman reacting to the major win said “I could not believe it when I won the jackpot. It took a moment for it to register and it was only when people started screaming that I realized the enormity of the win. I don’t visit casinos that often so to have this luck is just amazing.”

Last September student Angela Michail won a jackpot payout of £358,000 again on just a £1 bet at her local Grosvenor Casino at Whitworth street in Manchester.

Meanwhile staff at grovesnor casinos across the country, including croupiers, cashiers, valets and restaurant staff, staged a walk out yesterday in protest at pay.

Growing unrest amongst staff saw the walkout begin last Thursday morning . The Transport and General Workers Union said that there had been no headway made in resolving the row over a 3 and a half percent pay offer.

Grovesnor casinos said it was disappointed with the most recent development but claimed that it would still be "business as usual".

The union said 350 workers went on strike, although Grovesnor said the figure was just 73.
