Foxy Bingo Cruise

Published on 17 October 2007
Hundreds of bingo players went aboard the UK’s first ever bingo cruise as a way of getting round the smoking ban after smoking was prohibited in public places including Bingo Halls.

The bingo players wanted to be able to smoke while they were playing and the smoking ban doesn’t apply to ships therefore the cruise arranged by online gaming company Foxy Bingo proved to be a great success.  450 players went aboard the mini-cruise which was a two night trip from Hull to Rotterdam.  The popularity of the cruise has made Foxy Bingo think about organising more cruises.

It is a great idea by Foxy Bingo who have listened to bingo punters that want to smoke as well as play the game.

Manageress of Foxy Bingo, Helen Rooney said, “As soon as the players took their place at the table everyone was ‘lighting up’.  Rather than talking about what jackpots were on offer they spent the whole evening talking about how great it was to be able to have a fag and play the nation’s favourite game.  It shows how frustrated many bingo players are at the Government’s decision to ban smoking in public places.

One of the players Julie Spicer, a 31 year-old Travel Consultant from London said, “Bingo is a social game.  As a social smoker, I found it great to be able to smoke and play at the same time.  Before the trip we were all chatting on-line, joking that we’d have to take heavy coats to smoke out on deck.  It was excellent to be able to smoke outside.”

Jo Titchmarsh, a host of one of Foxy Bingo’s online chat rooms said, “One of the great things which have attracted people to on-line bingo is that players can light up in their own homes while taking part in the games.”

On-line bingo players can visit Foxy Bingo’s website at www.foxybingo.com.

Speaking about the cruise Jo added, “A lot of players were really surprised – and delighted – when they discovered they’d be able to smoke during the cruise without leaving their tables.”

Due to the cruise’s resounding success, FoxyBingo which organised the trip with P&O, are bound to organise more cruises.

Patrick Southon, Managing Director of Cashcade who own FoxyBingo said, “We were absolutely delighted by the response of players to the inaugural mini-cruise which has reinforced Foxy Bingo’s position as the leader in its market.  This was a fantastic event which we will look to repeat in the future.”

Foxy Bingo, apart from organising bingo cruises, is among the largest online bingo websites in the UK.  It is officially endorsed by Katie Price (Jordan) and offers free £5 for all new members.  In an independent survey in August Foxy Bingo was voted number 1 for Trustworthiness, Security, Friendliness, Fun and Community.  You can visit the site by going to www.foxybingo.com.
