Gaming experts are predicting a black market in replica footie shirts.
Recently the industry reluctantly bowed to government pressure and agreed not to allow their logos on the junior kits of the clubs they sponsor.
The Gambling Commission, the regulator, discussed the issue with gambling companies, the Football Association and the Premier League.
The move will affect future shirt sponsorship in Premier League football which increased last season by at least 25 per cent to about £70m (excluding a deal struck this year for Sunderland worth around £10M).
This massive rise has been driven by several high profile gamign companies: Mansion - Tottenham Hotspur, 32Red - Aston Villa, 888 - Middlesbrough, Bet24 - Blackburn Rovers and newly promoted to the Premier League Sunderland - Boylesports.
A ban could lead to a black market for branded football shirts in the junior sizes. After all who wants to wear a shirt which does not match their chosen icon down to the last detail?
