Love them or hate them croupiers do a fine job the world over and it’s not their fault that the cards you want always seem stuck in the middle of the pack. It’s a difficult but rewarding job and more and more Britons are signing up for croupier courses.
But perhaps once qualified British croupiers should consider not working on the other side of the Atlantic for fear of being shot!
News emerged today that a casino worker has been injured by a stray bullet after police shot dead a wanted man during a stake out in Palm Springs.
Staking out the Spa Resort Casino on Tuesday, police shot a fugitive after he pointed a gun at them while trying to flee.
Although the wanted man was killed during the incident, an innocent casino employee also got shot in the leg after a bullet went through the window of the casino lounge and its now expected the victim will take legal action against the Police force.
The injured employee, identified only as a male croupier, had to be taken to the Desert Regional Medical Centre to be treated, a spokesperson for the casino said.
"I heard some yelling. All of a sudden gunshots went off," Palm Springs resident Bill Buxton told the Desert Sun. "It sounded like a string of firecrackers. It just kept going."
Two hours following the shooting the casino was operational, although the Cascade Lounge was closed.
Five officers were involved in the shooting spree and have now been placed on paid administrative leave while the incident is investigated.
Police refused to name the crimes that they were pursuing the wanted man for.
The injured casino employee may now be considered unlucky by punters and avoided for fear of being jinxed!
However its more likely that he’ll be in line for a massive compensatory payout from the local law enforcement and may even decide to sit on the other side of the table from now on.
