Online Bingo cash back mentality...

I have taken a forum complaint about a bingo website based in the UK to try and explore the mentality behind a player seeking cash back bonus and bingo bonus.

This player was out to get his cash back his sign up bonus and a special £5 bonus plus withdraw his initial deposit.  The reason he tried to cash out was on registering with the site he saw his real money account was being debited in advance of his £45 worth of bonus cash to be honest not an unreasonable scenario as an operator you would could not do it the other way round as they would get fleeced even more.

This player has come through a cash back site. What this means is site XYZ has paid the cash back site a bounty of £40 for this player. The player has then received £20 cash back.  Note player fails to mention this part of the transaction till quizzed by one of the other posters.  So his statement “I am left with £0" is inaccurate.

The players numbers do not stack up if he played £1 then he should surely be withdrawing £39 not £40 as he has spent £1 of his deposit.  A more experienced player goes on to tell him that to redeem the bonus he acquired of £5 (on top of his 100% cash match) he needs to play through a little cash and then ask for his withdrawal to be honored.

In my view this kind of behavior is thinly dressed up reasonableness which hides a considerable amount of player/customer greed.  How do I defend this point of view?

XYZ bingo has paid a £40 CPA plus £40 BB plus £5 as a one off bonus so the £40 deposit from the player has netted them £0 even if he plays through the full amount of deposit without winning a bean.

To get his £85 balance with the site the player parted with just £20. This is his deposit of £40 less his cash back of £20. He is a bonus hunter as he went through this to withdraw after only £1 worth of play so the site is £39 down. The most interesting part is how the player is playing the injured party in all of this.

FORUM TRANSCRIPT
John Doe 1: "Bingo XYZ has taken £40 from me."

I put £40 into my account and they have taken it from me and now I’m left with £0. It all happened last week. I placed £40 in my account I received £5 Cash and £40 bingo bucks. I played £1 did not like the bingo so I withdrew £40 the site comes up with a message saying that I would lose my £40 BB.

A few days later my £40 cash was returned into my bingo account as cash but no BB So I tried again and I got an e-mail back saying I was account abusing they returned the money as BB not real cash. I was not happy about the fact that my money was now classed as BB with a massive play through to be able to withdraw.

I have e-mailed them lots about this and I am not getting anywhere the last e-mail read:

Dear Kevin,

Thank you for your email.

Please be advised that we have now credited the £40 in bb's
Please note that you will need to wager these funds at some point or these funds will be removed from your account within 48hrs.

Kind Regards,
Michelle

John Doe 2: Your free £5 needed to be wagered 3 times before you could have made a withdrawal. Maybe you should wager the £4 cash and another £10BB on bingo and then email them again explaining that you have met the wagering requirements of the free £5 and you would like to withdraw what’s left of your deposit.

I’ve had similar problems with this group and it always helps if you add a comment like "I signed up to become a genuine player but I wont be depositing any more cash until I know I can trust your company when it comes to withdrawing" or words to that effect.

By the way did you signup through a cashback site? Did it track?
---------------------------------------------------------
John Doe 1: Yes I did and they paid out the cashback to me.

-------------------------------------------------------------
John Doe 3: Sorry to hear about your trouble.

To balance this, I have to say I have had a great online bingo experience, and am up about £150 on my original £10 deposit (for which I got £20 back through quidco). But then I did not have any problems so did not get to experience any of this. Like anything, once you have a problem it's a true test.

Hope you get sorted.

Comment:  I see more and more of stories like that on various forums... This is almost a plague I think. Are such "bonus hunters" really dumb or are they just pretending to be? "There is no free lunch" and that is proven for years. T&C's of all promos tell you exactly when you qualify for a cashback/cashmatch. It's obvious that you won't get any cashback/cashmatch money (in £ or BB points) just for signing in, depositing money and withdrawing them a few days later. As to my understanding: 1. Cashmatch - I sign up, deposit, wager that deposit, then (and only then) I get a cashmatch. 2. Cashback - I sign up, deposit, wager again, I lose so I feel a bit down, they make a nice gesture and to cheer me up refund some of my losses. Isn't that kind? It's THAT simple! Reading with understanding has a great future... BTW. Did you notice that some networks give you some money for free - just for sign-up? That's great - now I can play and test the site before I decide if I want to do the first deposit :-)
