Californian casino giant Las Vegas Sands says it intends to launch an online site aimed at the U.K market.
The bold move comes after the US government attempted to put an end to online gambling in the country.
Attempting to get around recently adopted legislation preventing Americans from participating in online gambling the site will not allow players from the United States to take part or place wagers.
The CEO of Las Vegas Sands says that this move will create a strong online position for the company for future potential opportunities.
The new online casino will have its license issued by the U.K. and Cantor Gaming will provide the software.
This isn’t the first time such a website has been launched targeting punters in Britain.
Harrah's Entertainment was the last to try online gambling in the UK, but failed just six months after it started operating in 2004. If Las Vegas Sands' move proves to be a successful one however, we may see other offline casino giants entering the market here.
The financial backing behind the Las Vegas Sand’s proposal is expected to be vast which may see it succeed once it gets over the initial teething stage.
The corporation is one of the biggest of it’s kind in the world with the Venetian Resort hotel, the Sands Expo and Convention centre and the Sands Macao in China just some of it’s multi million pound assets.
If the initiative proves successful and attracts more American companies into the British market then it may force a rethink of policy on Capitol Hill.
