World Poker Congress

The 2008 World Poker Congress is just a couple of weeks away. The event will be held in the Hungarian capital of Budapest at the Marriott Hotel, as the EPT Budapest is taking place in the city at the same time.
The congress organised by Clarion Gaming is a meeting of both offline and online poker businesses, who will discuss what they have in common as well as the differences between them. Around 150 delegates from about 80 poker companies are expected to attend.
Clarion Gaming have said that the congress is designed for delegates to discuss how poker can flourish as a global sport.
The main speech of the meeting will be delivered by Steve Lipscomb, the Head of World Poker Tour Enterprises and Hendrick Knopp, the chief of Bwin Poker. They will discuss topics such as the effects brands have on market capitalization. They are due to speak early on, on day one of the congress.
Paul Barnes of Devilfish Gaming and Mathew Balch of Dennis Publishing will also be giving speeches during the course of the Congress.
They will be a session on how to successfully organise poker tournaments to attract more entrants which will be discussed by experienced poker operators.
Other topics to be covered at the Marriott Hotel include, market trends, the top companies, new products, new markets, areas of industry growth, women in poker and is poker a game of skill or chance?
This is the third year of the World Poker Congress. In the last two meetings, the event has ended with a panel of poker playing professionals discussing informally there views on how poker can grow as a sport amongst other things John Kalmar and Marcel Luske will be just a couple of big name poker players in attendance at the congress.
