Past World Poker Tour champions are to be honoured at the WPT Ceremony of Champions event later this month, hosted by the WPT and Bellagio at the world famous “O” Theatre. Each of the 96 WPT champions - since the creation of the WPT from the past 6 seasons - will receive a diamond bracelet, following in the footsteps of the World Series of Poker, whereby the top players receive bracelets. The diamond encrusted bracelets have been designed by jewellers Tiffany & Co and personalised for each player. Historic events, players’ achievements and winning moments will also be highlighted during the ceremony in addition to the players’ being presented with their bracelets.
WPT Founder, President and CEO, Steve Lipscomb said, “There are so many incredible stories to celebrate from the six World Poker Tour seasons and we are thrilled to pay tribute to each of our WPT Champions. The championship bracelet has become synonymous with poker as a symbol of achievement and respect, and we are honoured to continue the tradition that Benny Binion began over 30 years ago.”
Doug Dalton, Director of Poker Operations for Bellagio added, “The ceremony of champions is a great way to highlight the dedication and hard work it takes to become a winner on the World Poker Tour. We are delighted to host this sensational event in the ‘O’ Theatre and we look forward to another successful championship event.”
The event takes place on Monday 21st April and will start at 8:30pm in the “O” Theatre lobby where the “Art of Richard McDonald” exhibition is currently being displayed, with a private cocktail party for players and VIPs. The ceremony is scheduled to start at 10pm and is to be compered by Masters of Ceremony, Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patten. The two WPT commentators have presented the prize money and trophies to every WPT winner since the first WPT tournament took place in Bellagio six years ago.
