Teenager scoops £7 million on EuroMillions draw

Last Friday’s EuroMillions jackpot draw of £100 million was shared by fifteen winners across the continent. One of the lucky winners is known to be British 18 year-old gap year student Ianthe Fullagar, who will now be able to pay for her university fees, live up the student partying lifestyle and comfortably have millions of pounds in cash left as she received over £7 million for matching the winning numbers in Friday’s historic draw.
Miss Fullagar has been working as a waitress on a minimum wage at the start of her gap year before going to university to do a law degree next year. She has indicated she still plans to do the course next year despite being set up for life thanks to her win.
The saying goes you are usually third time lucky, but this was only the second time Miss Fullagar had played the EuroMillions draw. She luckily guessed correctly the winning numbers of 14, 29, 31, 33, 37 and the lucky star numbers 1 and 2.
Miss Fullagar has said she wants to be sensible with the money. With the amount of money she’s won she could afford a luxury car but she drives a modest old Ford Ka and has said she only plans to replace it with a new car of the same model. Apart from that, the only other big thing she wants to spend her money on at the moment is a holiday in Egypt, when she could easily afford a-round-the-world cruise. After learning of her win, she celebrated modestly with a few glasses of cider and a typical student meal of beans on toast.
However, she was amazed when she watched the draw on television and discovered she had the winning ticket. She screamed loudly in delight and her dog bit her on her backside but she didn’t even feel the pain as she was so excited about winning!
Miss Fullagar is the youngest lottery winner to scoop over £2 million in the UK. She has won more than another Cumbrian teenager, Callie Rogers, who was just 16 when she won £1.9 million on the main National Lottery draw five years ago.
Miss Rogers, interviewed by the BBC, commented on her fellow Cumbrian’s win by saying, “I hope she enjoys it as much as I have. The win has changed my life for the better and five years on I now have my own house, financial security and a gorgeous family.”
Miss Fullagar has won exactly £7, 055,142.10.
