Ronaldo’s departure from Old Trafford is a certainty says British bookmaker

A few weeks ago it was the type of story reserved for the most dubious of tabloids but now it seems Manchester United’s Portuguese scoring sensation Cristiano Ronaldo could be heading for Real Madrid.

Today bookmakers William Hill say they believe Ronaldo has played his last game for Manchester United. They are offering staggeringly short odds of 8/11 that he is not at Old Trafford next season and even money that he stays at the club.

Speculation has been rife that he is on his way to the Spanish Champions after Euro 2008 finishes and having already won everything there is to win at Manchester United it would be no surprise if the Portuguese star fancies a new challenge.

Ronaldo signed for Alex Ferguson’s side in 2003 and has contributed 66 goals over five seasons at the club – a stunning strike average for a midfielder of a goal every 220 minutes approximately.

Before the European Championships Ronaldo ominously said “I would like to play for Real Madrid but only if it is true they are ready to pay what Manchester United ask of them. However, it does not depend on me."

William Hill are also betting on Frank Lampard’s future. He is being linked with a move to Inter Milan that would see him link up with former boss Jose Mourinho. He is 5/2 to move to Inter Milan and 4/5 to stay at Chelsea. Lampard is 3/1 to join Barcelona, 16/1 Juventus, 16/1 Real Madrid and 20/1 AC Milan.

It certainly won’t be all doom and gloom at Stamford Bridge though with Deco expecting to follow current Portuguese manager Luiz Felipe Scolari to West London. And the mini sensation has told Barcelona team mate Ronaldinho that a move to the Bridge would be good for his career also.
