The city of Nottingham is buzzing this week after the country’s first legal poker club opened its doors to the paying public.
This website featured an article about the Dusk Till Dawn group acquiring a licence in September and now the dreams of those behind the bold initiative have been realised.
And it seems poker enthusiasts through out the country have been flocking to one of Europe’s oldest cities.
Based at Redfield Way the club is struggling to keep up with demand from prospective members.
This Saturday will see the opening weekend's Main Event and many famous poker faces will be in attendance.
"I never had any doubts that we would sell all our seats for the opening weekend. We can't rest on our laurels now though as the real challenge is to make Dusk Till Dawn the best club in Europe and keep players coming through our door over the years to follow," Simon Trumper, Live Poker director told the Nottingham Evening Post.
Rob Young, managing director of the poker club added: "It's been a long struggle but it's been worth it. The club is looking great and I know the poker community are going to love it."
Over 400 poker players can be seated in the 15,000 square-foot poker room, which is leased from Showcase Cinema and situated on the Lenton Lane Industrial Estate.
There are 45 tables in the main card room of Dusk Till Dawn and the VIP area boasts a Hi Roller table.
Cleverly on their website the owners of the poker club highlight that they have a smoking enclosure which will attract many poker players who may have boycotted casino halls after the smoking ban in the UK.
Already attracting interest from around the UK the success of Dusk Till Dawn seems guaranteed.
