The smell of money isn’t always sweet it seems. A 54 year old poker player was asked to leave an Atlantic City casino recently after a marathon session of 17 hours at the table. Players complained that his body odor was offensive and now Michael Wax has issued a formal complaint against the casino managers.
Wax claims that as he left to go to the restroom he was followed by one of the casinos managers and informed that some players at his table had been complaining about his body odor. When he returned to the table to continue playing he was politely informed that he should leave the casino floor.
The 54 year old limousine company owner alleges that he then asked for a free room so that he could freshen up, which was denied and he was forced to leave the casino.
Dave Coskey, a spokesman for the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, said it is company policy not to comment on matters involving their customers.
Wax from Brooklyn, New York who weighs a hefty 440 pounds said he told casino officials: "There's no question I stink. I'm not denying it. I do have an odor. I've been playing for 17 hours."
Wax has filed a complaint with the Casino Control Commission about his treatment and the issue is currently being investigated to see if any laws or regulations were broken during the saga.
Interestingly Wax has stated that he has thought about looking for another casino for his regular trips but he likes the Bortgaga Casino, even after the way he was treated.
The issue raises questions about hygiene levels at Casinos worldwide however it poses a problem for Casino owners who favour players playing for as long as possible for obvious reasons.
