ITV has collaborated with lottery operator Camelot to provide a new online channel focused on the latest news from the National Lottery including the draw, winners and clips of projects from all of the UK regions which have benefitted from National Lottery funding.
The new service will also give details of unclaimed prizes to try to find the winners and ensure that people remember to check their tickets.
The new channel is called the ITV Local National Lottery Xtra channel and adds to Camelot’s already established National Lottery Xtra service. With the new film people will be able to see how their purchased tickets have paid for the near 300,000 projects and good causes which have been awarded grants through lottery funding.
The channel will be found on the ITV Local website. It features news, weather, travel and a business directory from each ITV region across the UK. Therefore it will feature news of lottery funded projects from your area. On the ITV Local homepage you can also access the lottery news from all of the other regions.
ITV Local’s commercial director said in a press release on ITV’s main website that, “This groundbreaking partnership provides the ideal platform to showcase some of the thousands of community projects that have been funded by the National Lottery and is another example of ITV Local’s unique ability to inform users about what’s going on in their area at the click of a mouse.”
Camelot’s controller of broadcast, Martyn Fox added, “It will give ITV Local users a real insight into how the £21 billion-plus The National Lottery has so far raised for good causes and has funded the largest programme of civil and social regeneration since the 19th century.”
The new service is likely to prove popular due to the big increase in lottery ticket sales that has occurred in the past twelve months, with 70 percent of UK adults now regularly playing the National Lottery.
