John McCain’s gambling habit could keep him from becoming the next president of the United States they revealed yesterday. ??McCain has been tied to the gambling industry for a long time. He has become close over the years to some of the biggest gambling lobbyists in the country. Those ties are the ones that are now being heavily criticized after the New York Times ran a story detailing McCain's ties to the gambling industry. ??"Former senior campaign officials said they worried about Mr. McCain's patronage of casinos given the power he wields over the industry," the paper wrote. They tied McCain to many lobbyists who have fought for the gambling industry over the past twenty five years. ??The Democrats are attacking McCain because of those ties and his love for gambling. They might want to be slightly cautious, however, since their own candidate is an admitted player of poker. ??Neither of these candidates should be ridiculed for their love of gambling. The country is clearly moving towards reforming their right wing gambling laws, and the next president must be one who understands gambling. ??McCain will most likely lose votes of the conservatives over the gambling issue. It may even cost him the election in November.
The latest polls show McCain trailing Barak Obama by an average of five points but with over a month to go to polling day we’re bound to see a number of twists and turns in the race for the White House. The question is will we see the poker player of the craps player take the jackpot?!
