Lotto winner has store party

Michelle Drinkwater from Minster Lovell near Witney in Oxfordshire, celebrated her National Lottery win by having a party in the store where she bought the winning ticket. Colleagues, customers, family and friends all attended to celebrate the mother-of-two’s win.
She thought she had only won £1,000 when she checked her numbers and realised she had matched five of the six numbers. However, she discovered she had also matched the bonus ball when she went to collect the money and so her winning ticket was now worth £121,340 instead of £1,000.
The winning numbers were 9, 10, 17, 29, 33, 40 and the bonus ball was 15 for the draw on Saturday 9th August.
Shopkeepers of the Spar store Dave and Linda Lewis then layed on a party for Michelle. The lucky winner was also presented with her big winner’s cheque from Camelot at the store.
Mrs Lewis told the local press, “It’s got to be worth celebrating. We’ve never had anyone win this much before.”
Shop assistant Mandy Havord, who sold the winning ticket was given a hug and a glass of champagne at the Brize Norton Road store.
Michelle has already had a separate party to celebrate her win and even though she just missed on the big jackpot she is more than pleased with her win.
She said to local newspapers, “It was only when I went to collect my winnings I was told that I also had the bonus ball – lucky 15 – and had won over £120,000.
“I’ve been doing the lottery for 10 years, putting on £2 for the draw each week at the Spar shop.
“The highest win I’ve had before was £59 and a fortnight before I had £10.
“Even though I missed the big win with one number, I am more than happy with this.”
Her husband Paul has already purchased a new Vauxhall Astra family car with the winnings and the family have used some of the money to pay off a large chunk of their mortgage.
Yet another party is planned, although this time it is a double celebration as it is also for Michelle’s 40th birthday party.
