The picturesque Irish town of Killarney is normally associated with quaint pubs, lakeside views and its fair share of tacky gift shops.
But next October the County Kerry tourist Mecca will catch up with the modern age by hosting the 2008 Ladbrokes Irish Poker Tournament.
The tournament which will be led in the Irish National Events centre between the 2nd and 5th of October has a guaranteed prize pot of EUR250,000 for the main event as well as an array of other cash games.
There will also be a strong Ladbrokes presence at the event with many people looking forward to the Ladbrokes hospitality facilities. Set in a beautiful part of Ireland it is set to attract some of the biggest names in poker and put Ladbrokes well and truly in the headlines again.??Sponsorship of events is now seen by many gambling and casino companies as the most efficient way to hit their target market. While traditional marketing campaigns can yield impressive new customer numbers, there is nothing like preaching to the converted in the poker community.
As funding has become a little scarce of late, sponsorship of events such as the 2008 Killarney Irish Poker tournament is becoming more affordable to many more companies.
