Hard Rock Hotel and Casino officially opens Poker Lounge
Published on 17 September 2008
A star-studded audience of poker professionals, film stars and sports stars were in attendance for the official opening of the Poker Lounge at the Hard Rock Hotel and casino complex in Las Vegas. Although the poker room was opened only a few weeks ago, it was officially launched in a ceremony held on Saturday 13th September.
Poker legend Doyle Brunson together with Oscar B. Goodman, the Mayor of Las Vegas, officially opened the new lounge by cutting the ribbon in the grand opening ceremony.
To celebrate the launch, some leading poker players participated in a special VIP tournament. Doyle Brunson with daughter Pam and son Todd as well as Hoyt Corkins, Evelyn Ng and Chip Jett were just some of the players to christen the new poker lounge.
Pam Brunson was the victor of this special VIP event and as first prize she received a custom-built Hard Rock motorbike, which has come to symbolise the Hard Rock venue.
For a long time, the Hard Rock Hotel was seen as a place for tourists and locals alike to party the night away rather than play poker and casino games. However, the new lounge is designed to attract more people to gamble at the venue. It will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so people can drop in at any time with tournaments taking place round the clock.
Facilities featured in the Poker Lounge include, a full service bar, big screen TV’s, bottle service, certified masseuses, eighteen poker tables, Hard Rock’s jukebox, iPod stations, VIP room and poker lessons for those new to the game and players wishing to improve on their strategy.
The lounge is likely to attract bachelor parties and stag nights as well as top poker players for those who can afford to splash out on hiring the swanky lounge for the evening.
Free luxury food was laid on at the ceremony for guests at the lavish reception.
The Hard Rock Casino is the first venue to have a Poker Lounge in Las Vegas. It is likely that the idea will catch on, with other casinos also building new poker lounges to compete with Hard Rock.
