Former Page 3 girl to front new Bingo TV show
The growing appeal of bingo continues this week as television broadcaster ITV has announced that celebrity presenters Melinda Messenger and Michael Underwood will front its new free-to-play Bingo Night Live programme.
Launching this week on ITV1 with an inaugural £25,000 jackpot, Bingo Night Live will then run five nights a week from Tuesdays to Saturdays with players able to get their cards for each game online at ITV.com.
As well as bingo, the one-hour show will feature exclusive interviews with Messenger and the rest of the show’s team alongside slideshows, revealing behind-the-scenes clips and chances for players to become involved with the on-air programme.
'It’s the nation’s favourite game and accessible for all,' said Messenger.
'It’s good clean fun, nice and easy to play and it’s free. It does not cost you a penny to play.”
Bingo Night Live will have three main bingo games each night alongside a Golden Jackpot prize and the Magic Numbers and Minute To Win It side games running between the main competitions.
Each number drawn will be displayed on the show’s Wall of Numbers by Underwood while former regional news reporter Nicola Dixon will act as statistician controller using an interactive map featuring player statistics, lucky star signs, facts and figures.
“I really am pleased to be co-presenting a new game show based on an iconic UK game,” said Messenger.
“I mean, everyone loves bingo.”
The former page three model has enjoyed a varied television career since taking a step back from modeling. Her TV career began in 1997 on Channel 4’s Eurotrash. That same year she was given her own show on Channel 5 called ‘Melinda's Big Night In’. Also in 1997, she won the coveted ‘Rear of the Year’ award! Messenger appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in November 2002 in aid of a number of charities. She has since presented many TV programmes across a variety of channels.
