FA Cup odds

As this weekend saw the second round matches being played, the draw has now been made for the third round of the FA Cup, where the big guns of the Premiership and Championship begin their FA Cup campaigns.

Following the draw, most bookmakers are fancying Chelsea to win another FA Cup title, with the other 3 big clubs making up being the next best fancied teams by bookmakers.

Chelsea are still top of the Premiership and favourites for the FA Cup, despite their 2-1 defeat to Arsenal at the weekend.

In the third round draw they face a home match against Southend United.

The betting exchange Betfair are offering odds of 21/5* on the Blues recapturing the FA Cup which will be their 4th win in the last 13 years, with several other bookmakers giving them odds of 4/1*.

Manchester United are the second favourites with bookmakers.

They face a trip to Southampton in their third round match on 3rd January.

For odds on Manchester United winning the FA Cup in 2009 you will get a price of 9/2* with a number of bookmakers including bet365, Coral and William Hill amongst others.  Betfair currently have United as a 23/5* shot.

Arsenal are the third favourites with odds of 13/2* at Coral, Paddy Power and Sportingbet.  Liverpool are then predictably the fourth favourites, with odds of 8/1* at Betfair, Bluesquare and 888Sport.

Portsmouth - who won the cup last year - broke the stranglehold of the big four clubs as they were the first team to win the cup outside of the big four since Everton won in 1995.  Winning the cup one year is one thing but retaining it is another matter for a club like Portsmouth.

However, if you fancy Portsmouth to lift the trophy again, you will currently get the best odds with Betfair at 45/1*.

Of some of the other Premiership clubs, Manchester City are priced at 29/2* with Betfair, with Spurs at 18/1* with bet365 and Betfair in the win market.  Betdirect and Stan James are giving Aston Villa a 20/1* chance, with 1995 winners Everton priced at 28/1* with Boylesports.  Middlesbrough who start off their campaign against non-league Barrow are 40/1* with four bookmakers including Stan James.

It would be almost a miracle for a non-league side to win the FA Cup and this is reflected in the odds of 1,000/1* which are on offer from William Hill on this happening.

Torquay United are the team that the bookmakers feel will progress furthest in the competition out of all the non-league sides with a price of 2/1* with Bluesquare and 888Sport on being the non-league side most likely to go the furthest in the FA Cup.  Histon are 3/1*, Kettering Town 4/*1 and Barrow 16/1* with the same bookmakers in this market.

Millwall are the team the bookmakers feel will progress the furthest of all the teams outside the Premiership and Championship with odds of 10/3* with Skybet.  Leicester City are second favourites in this market with Skybet offering odds of 7/2*

In the market to reach the final Chelsea are priced at 2/1*, with Manchester United at 39/19*, Arsenal and Liverpool are 3/1* all with Betfair.

*Odds are correct as of time of writing.
