Published on 27 August 2008
The European I-Gaming Congress and Expo 2008 returns to Barcelona for its 7th annual meeting to be held between 23rd and 25th September.  It is the biggest meeting of the online gaming industry on the planet and this year’s exhibition looks set to be the biggest yet.  The show being held at the Barcelona International Convention Centre is being organised by Clarion Gaming

Speeches will be made from experts on affiliate marketing, branding, economics, jurisdictions, web technology and some of the industry’s top CEO’s.

The expo will also feature over 70 exhibitors, with 20 hours of networking events and 1,300 senior-level delegates.

Exhibitors include the likes of online games developers CryptoLogic, Microgaming and Wagerworks together with several other big names connected with the gaming industry.

The networking events include a three-hour drinks session which will start off the expo on day one.  An official EIG Party is also planned to be held at the snazzy Opium Mar Club. There will also be extra areas for networking and business meetings including new affiliate zones.

The EIG Charity Golf Tournament will take place for its second year and a 5 a side football tournament will also be held.

Speakers will include Sportingbet’s founder Mark Blandford, 888.com’s CEO Gigi Levy and PartyGaming’s CEO Jim Ryan amongst others.  There will be legal experts discussing the US online gambling ban and the impact of the result of the forthcoming US Presidential election may have on online gaming in the US.  Other legal issues in other markets will also be covered.

Online gaming companies should be interested in the 30 detailed sessions on how to expand their businesses.

Budding entrepreneurs will have the chance to pitch their business ideas in a Dragon Den style session.  5 start-up operators will present their vision for 2009 to a panel of gaming industry experts and in front of an audience.  This is a new feature to the EIG.

Associations such as the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA), fair and responsible gaming group eCOGRA and the Remote Gambling Association (RGA) are supporting the EIG event.
