As history was made yesterday when Barack Obama was sworn in as the first black President of the United States, his stepmother Kezia has been busy endorsing an online bingo game to raise money for charity, even though she flew out from England to watch her stepson’s inauguration.
The bingo game is called Mrs Obama’s Online Bingo and went live on the Gala Bingo site on 14th January and is available to be played up to and including Friday 23rd January between 8 o’clock and 9 o’clock in the evening. Mrs Obama has been reported as a fan of bingo herself, as she attends her local bingo hall in Bracknell on a regular basis.
10 percent of the money gained from the bingo game will go to the charity, Sue Ryder Care who help people with illnesses such as Cancer, Alzheimer’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s Disease.
Speaking about the online bingo game Mrs Obama said, “I am delighted to help galabingo.com raise funds for the Sue Ryder care charity. It is a really positive way of celebrating Barack’s inauguration.”
She also commented about how she enjoys playing bingo at her local hall by saying, “Everyone is so friendly and it’s exciting to sometimes win a bit of money.”
Kezia Obama is originally from Kenya but moved to England to be close to her daughter.
On the subject of the new President, bookmaker Paddy Power took bets on which phrases Barack Obama would use during his inauguration speech. There was also an online bingo game whereby phrases that Obama might use during his speech where written on the bingo cards instead of numbers.
